London Summer Walking Tours

This summer, Marble Arch BID — in partnership with The Portman Estate — is bringing back Discover Marble Arch: Hidden Stories. Following a popular debut in 2023, and the recent restoration of the Marble Arch monument, the free tours invite visitors to explore the area through the eyes of its architect, John Nash.

John Nash (1752–1835) was a leading British architect of the Georgian and Regency eras, famed for re-designing much of central London alongside the Prince Regent (later King George IV). He designed Marble Arch in 1827 as a grandiose, triumphal gateway to Buckingham Palace.

Led in character, these immersive one‑hour walks uncover the rich and often surprising history of this corner of London — from royal processions to protest movements. The route will visit include key historic sites such as the Speakers’ Corner, long associated with free speech and public debate, and the former Tyburn execution site, once one of Britain’s most notorious places of execution.

Designed for curious visitors and lifelong Londoners alike, the tours offer a fresh perspective on a familiar part of the city. Whether you’re new to the area or think you know it well, you’re likely to leave with new stories and a deeper understanding of Marble Arch’s past.

Tours run every Tuesday throughout July and August 2026, departing at 12:30pm and 2:00pm from the Marble Arch monument. All walks are free of charge, but spaces are limited, so advance booking is recommended.
