A New Era for Oxford Street image

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has announced that the pedestrianisation of Oxford Street will take effect from Monday, 26th October 2026, covering the section between Orchard Street (Selfridges) and Great Portland Street (IKEA).

Under the new arrangements, buses, taxis, cycles and other vehicles will be prohibited from using this 1km stretch of Oxford Street between 07:00 and midnight each day. North–south routes connections will remain open.

Bus and traffic diversions will begin on the evening of Sunday, 25th October. New bus stops will be introduced on Wigmore Street, Henrietta Place and Cavendish Place to serve affected routes.

Mobility scooters and emergency vehicles will continue to have access to Oxford Street at all times.

More information available on the Marble Arch BID and Transport for London websites.
