International Women's Day

Many remarkable women have supported actively the Club’s objectives over the years since its creation in 1907.  From 1928, for example, a formal Ladies’ Committee was formed, and raised funds through a wide range of activities to allow the Club to help ex-Servicemen in need of ‘the basics’ (food, shelter, and something clean to wear to a job interview).  While there is no longer a separate Ladies’ Committee, we continue to enjoy and benefit from the support of many women in a wide range of roles, from Trustees to staff to active members.

As always, there are some who particularly stand out; examples are Princess Beatrice, Violet Attlee, and The Marchioness of Carisbrooke.  Profiles of these women and their contributions are included in the PDF here
