With the Victory Services Club’s fantastic location, there’s so many things to do just a stone’s throw away. We’ve rounded up some of what London has to offer in October and some fun activities to do as a family.

BFI Southbank, Wednesday 4th  – Saturday 15th October

Discover the best new British and international films and engage with industry professionals at the 61st annual BFI London Film Festival.

One of the world's top film festivals, the BFI London Film Festival (LFF) presents the best in international cinema with red carpet premieres, gala events, talks, workshops and screenings of feature films, as well as shorts and documentaries, at venues across the city. The event draws in renowned actors and directors, as well as emerging talents and audiences from around the world.

The VSC is a short tube journey away from the famous theatreland, with musicals taking place in the
afternoon and evening there’s a generous offering
to choose from including Mama Mia, Wicked, The Jersey Boys and many more. Why not book a table
in the Club Dining Room and enjoy a delicious dinner before you head off?

Greenwich Peninsula, Thursday 5th  – Sunday 22nd  October

Head over to Southbank and join the many visitors from all over the world to take part in workshops, lectures and staged readings at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. Alternatively, if you've got stage fright, you could visit the exhibition, tour the Globe Theatre, or watch productions, including world premières of new scripts.

Or our pick of the best half term activities:

Museum of London, Saturday 21st  – Sunday 29th October, free

Head over to the Museum of London for daily activities inspired by London's favourite bear and his upcoming film, Paddington 2, released on 10 November. To coincide with the release of Paddington 2, you can also visit a small display celebrating the well-mannered bear and including original costumes and props from the new film.

The Lookout Hyde Park, Wednesday 25th October, free

Just a short walk from the VSC you’ll find the magnificent Hyde Park. Pop down to the park and join in with their Halloween themed event where the little ones can create magical potions using freshly grown herbs or build a bat box to take home plus many more.

London Canal Museum, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th October, 15.00 – 21.30

The event includes story telling in the museum from their resident witch, and a trip through the three-quarter-mile-long Islington Tunnel on a decorated narrowboat in the dark! Dressing up encouraged.

Book tickets here.
