Summer Days in London

What's not to love about the Summer? Longer days, warm weather, flowers in full bloom, BBQ's, the list goes on. For our members who are visiting London during July-August, we have created this guide with some key events and places to go during your time in the capital. We hope you enjoy reading this and be sure to tag us in your selfies if you do visit any of the places below!

Serpentine Lido 

Open all summer

Located right around the corner from the VSC is the Serpentine Lido, this is the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer's day. The Serpentine is ideal for families too, with a smaller pool for kids and a playground. So pull up a deck chair, grab an ice cream and lounge by the pool!

 

Rooftop Film Club

Open all summer

Open Sunset, drinks, snacks, deck chairs, classic movies…Have we got your attention yet? With locations in Peckham, Shoreditch, Stratford and Kensington, there’s a Film Club for everyone.

 

Underbelly Festival

Open until 30th September

You may have heard of the 'Udderbelly Festival' and the 'London Wonderground Festival'. For the first time this year, both festivals have joined forces to bring you the 'Underbelly Festival'.

The Underbelly Festival presents London’s largest programme of affordable comedy, circus, cabaret and children’s shows, in a city-centre festival environment with a great range of street food and one of the largest outdoor bars in London.

 

Bang Bang Oriental

From 10th July

Bang Bang Oriental is set across 32,000 square feet, with an energetic and eclectic mix of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Vietnamese and Malaysian influences, all while celebrating Asia’s vibrant culture. This stunning architectural space houses many restaurants and retail outlets. If you love Eastern food and culture, this is the place to be!

 

Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace

From 22nd July to 1st October

Buckingham Palace opens its doors to the public this summer, every year the Palace's summer opening features a temporary special exhibition. This year's exhibition is 'Royal Gifts'; a showcase of some of the official gifts given to the Queen during her reign.

 

IAAF World Championships, London 2017

From 4th - 13th August

Join in and watch the biggest global sporting event of the year – the International Association of Athletics Federations.  London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will light up as the world’s top athletes will bring the roar back to the iconic stadium that saw Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Usain Bolt race to glory over 10 magical days.

 

Foodies Festival, Alexandra Palace

From 26th August - 28th August

At the Foodies Festival there is something for everyone, in fact it’s a great day out for the entire family! There are live cookery demonstrations from well-known Chefs, cooking and baking classes for children and adults, food stalls and did we mention there are countless places to eat and drink?!

 

Notting Hill Carnival

From 26th August - 28th August

Known as London’s biggest street party, Notting Hill Carnival is a celebration of Caribbean culture, it is an annual celebration awash with beautiful colours. Watch in awe as the elaborate floats and colourful costumed performers wind their way through the streets in the parade, dance to the sound of steel bands and calypso music, and visit the tempting food stalls along the route.
