October Half Term 2020

Fun activities for this October half term

If you are looking for some inspiration for what to do this October half Term, whether it is a family occasion, date night or even going out with friends, then we have got you covered!

For the kids

  • Kew Gardens have a super fun Gruffalo themed trail where the whole family will have to use their investigative skills to follow the trail and try to locate the Gruffalo.
  • ‘Shrek’s Adventure’ at Southbank is an immersive experience, where you must become a brave knight, step into Shrek’s swamp, and help him escape from prison. You may even bump into Puss in Boots on the way!
  • ZSL London Zoo have an exciting week of events including, a walk through with the spiders, a fun Halloween trail where a zookeeper will tell gruesome but interesting stories about how “nature can bite back”. You can also get discounted tickets on certain days during the half term, which is great if you want to fit in multiple attractions in one day.
  • Another spooky puzzle solving activity for the family being held at the infamous Madame Tussaud’s is the Alien Escape. You can step on board the Covenant and run for your life from aliens!
  • If you are looking for something a little less spooky, then why not let your children’s imaginations run wild at KidZania, an indoor city run by, yes you guessed it, kids! They can trial different careers and feel like ‘adults’ for the day.
  • We all know Wally, but where is he this half term? You can search for Wally at over 75 museums across the UK between 9th October and 1st November! A little tip, we heard that one of his hiding spots is the Horniman Museum!
  • A great museum to visit is the London Transport Museum, as children can enter for free.

For Couples

  • Sit back and enjoy a film at the pop-up Forbidden Forest Immersive Cinema Experience, located in Peckham. You can choose from an array of Halloween films, and can also purchase some foods from a special menu created by ‘What the Fattoush’.
  • Fancy going all out? For a slightly more expensive option, The London Cabaret Club are hosting a ‘El Dia of the Dead Halloween Show’ Matinee Brunch, after the dinner sold out so quickly, which includes dinner, drinks and a spectacular show!
  • Why not visit Kew Gardens and take a look around the ‘Paradise Lost’ exhibition; it’s a ‘thought-provoking exhibition exploring humanity’s impact on the natural world” and has been created by acclaimed artist Jan Hendrix.
  • We suggest visiting a pumpkin patch near you, to really get you in the Halloween spirit! The Londonist have a great list for pumpkin patches around London.

For groups (remember no more than 6 people and you must be from same household!)

  • You won’t be surprise dot know that there are a lot of Ghost Bus tours on this Halloween, where you can discover the evil and gory history of London. Design my night have a great list of the best ghost and paranormal tours of the city, so be sure to check it out.
  • London Cocktail week has been extended to the whole month of October! You must first purchase a wristband (£15.00), and this allows £6 signature serves in hundreds of the best bars in London.
  • If you want to venture slightly outside of London, then we would recommend getting a group together and visiting Thorpe Park for its well-known ‘Fright Nights’. This will be sure to get you all in the Halloween Spirit
  • For a more chilled out option, you could take a visit to Boxpark in Shoreditch, there are many street food stands to cater for everyone and there is always an event on whether it be live music, poetry reading, comedy nights and many more. This Halloween they are hosting a brunch event, so be sure to check it out.
  • Looking for something less expensive? We would recommend heading to All Star Lanes for a fun game of bowling, followed by Karaoke at one of their many London venues. Alternatively, book in a game at Swinger’s golf course and try out different crazy golf courses, or head to Flight Club for a drink and a game of friendly darts!
